Our Purpose

Metro Bible Church exists to reflect God’s glory by bringing people to a knowledge of Jesus Christ and helping them to become like Him. We seek to do this by imparting the Word and imparting our lives (1 Thess 2:8).

Imparting the Word…

Expositional Preaching

Verse by verse expositional preaching is taking the main point of the text, making it the main point of the sermon, contemporizing it and delivering it with an unction for a change.  It is letting the Word of God drive our preaching with us as a congregation answering the question, “How then shall we live?”

Elder Leadership

Scripture teaches that the local church is to be led by a plurality of godly men.  To that end, we submit ourselves to shepherds who meet the qualifications according to 1 Tim 3, Titus 1, 1 Peter 5:9, Hebrews 13:17 & Acts 20:28.

Sound Doctrine/Gospel

Doctrine simply means “teaching” and the driving force of our teaching is the gospel.  The Bible clearly explains that God is sovereign and holy. Man, because of the fall, is depraved and spiritually dead.  “But God being rich in His mercy” has sent His own Son to die in our place, absorbing the punishment for our sin, so that mercy and grace can be extended.  Our response in salvation is to repent and commit our lives in faith to Jesus Christ.

…Imparting our Lives

Membership/Discipline

As believers, we not only commit ourselves to follow Christ, but we also commit ourselves to His people and we do that through covenant membership.  Through this commitment we encourage, exhort and admonish one another.  We help each other grow spiritually and pursue reconciliation through discipline when one falls into sin. (Matt 18 & Gal 6:1)

Fellowship

The Holy Spirit is the tie that binds.  Real fellowship comes when a body of believers gathers and grows according to the truth of God’s Word.

Discipleship

The great commission calls us to make disciples.  Paul told Timothy to “entrust these truths to faithful men who will be able to teach others also”.  Discipleship is imparting the Word of God in relationship to help others grow in Christ.  At Metro we are passionate about helping every Christian become a disciple-making discipler. (2 Tim 2:2)
